  • West Kelowna spray park opening soon

Above-average temperatures have been heating up the Okanagan and the West Kelowna Kids Care Spray Park will be opening sooner than usual to cool everyone down.

The popular children’s water park will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Saturday, May 7 to September.

The spray park is located in Westbank Centre Park, at the end of Dobbin Road or Main Street at Herbert Road.

Kids Care Spray Park is free of charge and offers 20 motion activated pieces of equipment including geysers, hoops, shower towers and water cannons.

There is also room for people to spread out towels and blankets, to have a meal on a picnic table and changing rooms are available.

Because of West Kelowna water conservation efforts, the park uses a recirculating water system, which means water is collected and treated on-site and is not dumped into the sanitary system like many water parks.

Just a fraction of the water used by standard water parks is needed to keep the sprinklers running throughout the summer.

Westbank Centre Park is also pet friendly, as it’s home to one of the City’s off-leash dog parks. The nature trails of Glen Canyon Regional Park can also be accessed from the park.

Spray park hours will be extended in July and August, from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.
