Mounties in the BC Interior are assuring their community that a weapons report was unfounded and that there was no risk to the public.
Around 4:30 pm on Tuesday, the Cranbrook RCMP received a report of two men with guns entering the Tamarack Mall.
An immediate tactical plan was engaged as general duty members rushed to the mall, police said in a news release.

“Unaware of the eventual outcome, the responding members once again were prepared to put the safety of the community above their own,” said S/Sgt Barry Graham.
However, upon arrival, the officers quickly determined the two men were security personnel engaged in their routine duties.
The Cranbrook RCMP assured the public who witnessed the response that their safety was not at risk.
Although the report was unfounded, the police reminded the public to always safely yield to all emergency vehicles with lights and/or sirens activates.
