Maxine DeHart says she speaks to about a hundred people a week as she prepares her weekly business column. And she draws on those connections in her work as a city councilor. "It keeps me in the loop," said DeHart. Like many of the candidates, Dehart said she is anxious to see more progress in dealing with the problem with homelessness in the downtown over the next four years if she's re-elected. "There's a lot of work to do," concedes the 7-year city council veteran, "and that's actually why I'm staying on council again."
