Kelowna City Council approved the development permit for Urbana at Central Green on Monday.

A collection of 55 new homes, Urbana is the third and final phase of condominiums at Central Green located on the corner of Richter Street and Harvey Avenue.

Last week, city council delayed a development permit for Central Green’s “B Building” citing the building met only the minimum requirement of five storeys.

The height of Central Green’s Ubrana building was a non-issue at city council this week, which is likely due to the building’s location at the back of the Central Green site.

Mayor Colin Basran commented that supporting Urbana was an “easy decision” but that beginning construction on the future site of Rowcliffe Park is a high priority as the park “is a big missing link” in the Central Green project.

During December’s City of Kelowna budget deliberations, Council allocated $1.35 million towards the construction of Rowcliffe Park.

The park accounts for over 40% of Central Green’s land area and will be Kelowna’s largest urban park once completed.

Construction is set to begin on Rowcliffe Park in spring of 2018.
