The TNRD emergency operations centre will be livestreaming an information meeting on its Facebook page on Thursday, August 10th at 6 p.m. to update evacuees displaced by the Elephant Hill wildfire.
Residents will hear from and pose questions to BC Wildfire, the RCMP, Interior Health and the TNRD.
Facebook has proved to be a popular way to reach the public during the wildfire crisis and the TNRD is opting to forgo the in-person meetings altogether. Over the past month, the regional district has found online viewership of its meetings vastly outweighs in-person attendance.
It has set up the following viewing locations for residents who can’t watch from their own device:
- District of 100 Mile House Community Hall at 240 Third St. in 100 Mile House
- Sandman Reception Centre in Kamloops (for those staying in group lodging)
- Thompson-Nicola Regional District Civic Building at 465 Victoria St. in Kamloops
- Village of Cache Creek Council Chambers at 1389 Quartz Rd. in Cache Creek
Residents will be able to ask questions by commenting on the Facebook Live stream as they have during previous meetings.
Video of the event will also be available on the TNRD website after the fact.
