  • The weekend need to KNow: Feb. 2 to 4, 2018

    If you're like many other people in Kelowna, the weekend for you is all about enjoying the city at your own leisurely pace. With so much going on in our community, it can be hard to fit all the things you want to do into your busy schedule. KelownaNow is here to help!

    2018 Western Canada Basketball Tournament

    Eight basketball teams from across the western provinces will be giving their all this weekend at the 2018 Interior Savings Western Canada Basketball Tournament held at KSS. Teams from B.C., Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan will go head to head against each other to prove who is the best in the west, with the tournament reaching its peak on Saturday at 7 p.m. for the final.

    Ballet Kelowna will be hosting their Elles: Extraordinary Dance Created by Women showcase, a one-night-only performance that features the work of four Canadian female choreographers. The event takes place at the Kelowna Community Theatre and begins at 7:30 p.m. If you're already a big fan of ballet and want an in-depth perspective, you can snag tickets to the pre-party in the Black Box theatres, which starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are available online and at Kelowna Tickets in Orchard Park Mall. 

    Catch a hockey game

    The Kelowna Rockets are set to take on the Everette Silvertips on Friday night at Prospera Place. As we edge closer to playoffs you can bet you’ll be in for an intense game. Grab your jerseys, and your friends, puck drop is at 7:05 p.m.

    Record City Vinyl Fair

    If you’re an avid record collector or what to get started on growing your vinyl collection, Record City in Vernon has the event for you! On Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. thousands of records from collectors across the region will be in town eager to help you expand your musical library. From rarities to obscurities, you will have the chance to get your hands on some golden oldies.

    Try the Beyond Burger

    If your tummy gets a rumbling, you may want to head to Naked Cafe to fill up on their newest menu item. The Beyond Burger is a burger free of any animal byproducts that tastes like the real deal, and thanks to added beet liquid, it's just as juicy! Treat yourself to a tasty treat to satisfy your cravings whether your a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore, you’re sure to enjoy!


     

    Clothing Swap

    If you’re looking to clear out the closet to make room for your spring wardrobe, head to the Sisterhood Clothing Swap this Sunday at the West Kelowna Integrative Health Centre starting at 1 p.m.

    The event will allow attendees to get new to them items without spending a cent, just bring up to five pieces of your own pre-loved clothing and have the chance to take five new pieces home.
