The BC coast was unseasonably warm on Tuesday and several weather records were broken as a result.

According to Environment Canada, a strong ridge of high pressure over North America produced record breaking temperatures. New highs were recorded in Pitt Meadows, Port Hardy, Tofino, Victoria Gonzales, Vancouver International Airport, and White Rock.

British Columbia wasn’t the only province to have record setting conditions, as temperatures reached all-time highs in Saskatchewan and Alberta. Meanwhile on the East Coast, residents dealt with record snowfall with some places receiving nearly 50 centimetres of the white stuff.

The hot spot in the province for Tuesday was White Rock, as the temperature reached 17.3 degrees.
