  • Sidecar Santa busted by transit police just days before Christmas

In a last minute role reversal, Vancouver Transit Police were the ones in charge of this year’s “Naughty or Nice” list.

On Monday, the Santa Claus and his trusty lead reindeer Rudolph were pulled over by the authorities after failing to use a turn signal in a Port Moody neighbourhood.

A dashcam video from the officers shows the big man in red, not in his iconic sleigh, but in a motorcycle sidecar with Rudolph driving while the pair wait to turn left at an intersection.

“Here we have Santa and his reindeer not signaling left, so we’re going to go check it,” the officer can be heard saying in the video.

“We’re pulling over Santa and his reindeer driver, stand by.”

In the spirit of the season, Santa and Rudolph were let off with just a warning.

Here’s to hoping the $121 saved from failing to signal can go towards fueling Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen and the rest of the crew on Christmas Eve.
