  • UPDATE: Coquihalla between Hope and Merritt reopens after flooding incident

    (UPDATE: Feb. 1 @ 3:30 pm) – Both the northbound and southbound lanes of the Coquihalla between Hope and Merrit have been reopened. 

    The portion of the highway was closed most of the afternoon due to flooding and debris covering the roadway. 

    DriveBC is urging motorists to travel with caution and to expect delays and congestion. 

    (Original Story: Feb. 1 @ 12: 15 pm)- For those of you travelling along the Coquihalla, you may want to delay your road trip as the major highway has been closed northbound between Othello Road and Merritt.

    According to DriveBC flooding and debris on the roadway have caused the closure, which is in effect for a 102.8-kilometer stretch between Hope and Merritt as well as between Exit 183: Peers Creek Rd and Highway 5A.

    While traffic is flowing along the southbound lanes, as of now there is no confirmed time of reopening and no detours are available for northbound travellers.
