Prince George residents haven't been strangers to crime this year and MacLean's list of Canada's most dangerous places for 2020 proves just that. 

Released on Tuesday, the list ranked cities with the highest level of overall crime from Statistics Canada. In the gallery, communities are ranked by their crime severity index (CSI) in 2018, the most recent year with data available.

Prince George had a crime severity index of 164, the fifth-highest total in all of BC. Their violent crime severity index was at 139, which sat them at 19th in the country. 

In 2018, Prince George had just one homicide for a homicide rate of 1.26, .50 less than the national average. 

Prince George also had 597 assaults, 79 sexual assaults, 87 robberies, 643 break and enters, 392 cases of fraud, 265 instances of impaired driving, 63 cocaine trafficking incidents, and 77 Youth Criminal Justice Act offenses. All of these were above the Canadian average. The only charges Prince George was below the average in included cannabis trafficking and firearm offenses. 

Coming in at number one was North Battleford, Saskatchewan with a CSI of 384.57. The safest spot in Canada was LaSalle, Ontario who had a CSI of 12.
