Prince George Fire Rescue was in action on Wednesday after responding to a structure fire in the 4400 block of Bauch Avenue.
According to PGFR, a total of 15 firefighters and three halls responded to the blaze. When crews arrived, all occupants of the two suites were out of the building and there was light smoke coming from the basement suite.
Crews gained entry into the basement and quickly extinguished the fire. Crews found the blaze was accidentally started from a pot of cooking oil on the stove. Firefighters remained no scene until all hot spots were put out and the air was back to normal.
Fire damage to the residence was estimated at $50,000, most of which came from the kitchen. The Three residents of the basement suite were taken to the hospital and checked for minor smoke inhalation.
