  • Operation Red Nose needs more volunteers in Prince George

Operation Red Nose is looking to ring in the New Year the best way they know-how, and that is by volunteering to get you home safe on New Year's Eve!

The designated driver service is in a small bind though, as they are in need of at least 75 more volunteers to make the night run smoothly.

"We need about 75 more volunteers, the equivalent of 25 road teams, to help us out on Dec. 31 to meet the demand for rides that we expect,” said Andrea Johnson with ORN. "Historically in the last 10 years we have provided between 150 to 200 rides alone on New Year’s Eve and right now we don’t have enough teams to ensure everyone gets home safely.”

After four nights of service this year, ORN has delivered 281 safe rides home. On Saturday, 65 volunteers provided 94 rides alone.

"Our volunteers were rock stars especially on Friday night with the snowy road conditions and we appreciated everyone who called us."

Those interested in volunteering their time to the service can do so through here. ORN still needs navigators, drivers, and escort drivers for the season.
