  • Opera collaboration by Okanagan father-son duo wows fans online

The talent of an Okanagan father-son duo is gaining the attention of online music fans.

After performing on the same stage for the past two years, Justin Moore uploaded a unique collaboration created alongside his father Paul to YouTube on Saturday.

Performing a gripping opera version of “Perfect Symphony” by Ed Sheeran, the duo wowed viewers with the video quickly gathering over 10,000 plays in a single day.

"I've only seriously been singing opera for about two years, training with my dad a lot, trying to understand what it is that makes great singers great," explained Justin to KelownaNow.

“It’s the first song we’ve ever professionally recorded together and I was honestly a bit surprised to see the reaction."

Living in Kelowna, Justin writes, produces and records his own music under the name Justin J. Moore, but with his Dad living in Armstrong, the 20-year-old had to take his mobile studio on the road.

“I’m fluent in English and French, but there were a couple of instances where I messed up the Italian, if not for that, we could have had it in one take,” joked Justin.

"I've always thought it was really cool that my Dad and I sing together, it's a unique relationship not many kids have with their Dad," said Justin.

"The reaction has been a bit of an eye-opener, I think it's definitely a sign to keep recording these types of videos."

While much of the current hype is the collaboration with Paul, Justin says fans will also enjoy a similar piece he’s working on with his mom.

"We're working on something right now, it has similar intentions and it's pretty special.”
