Lights, camera, action!

A casting call has been issued for several roles in an upcoming Kamloops based film.

Titled The Bench, the story follows a young homeless girl as she battles the stereotypes associated with those living in the streets.

The compelling story is sure to tug at your heartstrings and challenge viewer's perspective surrounding those living on the street.

The film's casting director is looking to fill several different roles:

Mary

Mary (15) is a smart, young homeless girl used to caring for herself. Untrusting of most, she uses her wit and charm to get what she needs from society while also carrying a tenderness for those like her. *Preferring older casting that looks younger.

Frenchie

Frenchie (50+) is an older, joyful alcoholic who lives his life pushing his cart around town collecting bottles for his next drink. He lives on the streets and everyone loves him, very eccentric. *Accents are preferred, as is scraggly facial hair.

Mom (Off-camera)

Mary's Mom (35+), has a conversation on the phone. Frustrated with her daughter's choices she sounds uncaring and hurried during their conversation.

Joe

Joe (17-22) is a basement dwelling, video-game playing, pot-smoking, small-time dealer who takes advantage of Mary.

Popular Girls

The epitome of the "it" girl, super popular and snotty with every hair in place. Think Mean Girls. Two roles available each with a single line. *Looking for females 15-18.

The short film, directed by Cjay Boisclair, is intended to hit the film festival circuit and is an excellent opportunity for actresses and actors to earn credits on a promising project.
