    Meet Katelyn Faulkner. Katelyn is a real estate agent and property manager with Brendan Shaw Real Estate, as well as a freelance photographer. She moved to Kamloops 8 years ago,  and lives in Westsyde with her husband Warren, 8-month-old daughter Audrey, and dog Macy.

    Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?

    Born and raised in West Kelowna, moved to Kamloops 7 years ago.

    Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
    My husband, Warren, because he makes everyday adventures memorable.

    What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
    Lizzie Bits Baby Co, because they have a great niche in the market that without them Kamloops would be lacking in.

    Describe yourself in one word.
    Adaptable.

    If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
    Bora Bora, because they're not experiencing a polar vortex.

    What is your 
    favourite activity in Kamloops?
    Hiking and mountain biking. There are so many great and diverse trails to explore.

    What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
    While playing soccer I ran into the goal post and had a goose-egg on my forehead for a few months.

    What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
    Having recently had a baby – this moment was my most inspiring one. There is a real defining moment that happens after you become a parent. She is my biggest motivation.

    Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
    Spending summers with my cousins at my grand parent's house in Annis Bay (Shuswaps) where our days were filled with swimming, catching minnows, squishing pennies on the train tracks, and learning how to back dive to name a few.

    Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
    Over the last few years, I have been apart of Rotaract, helping at the food bank, Pitstop, Operation Red Nose, and other local events.

    If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?

    That everyone would be able to have access to life-saving/improving medication regardless of cost.

    Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
    I love photographing scenery, when I want to get away I head up to the Lac Du Bois Grasslands.

    Where would you like to see positive change in Kamloops and why?
    More shopping local! Lets put our money and support into the people who make our community so great.

    What do you think makes Kamloops great?
    So many things – the community, the diverse landscapes, ease of accessibility.

    What are 3 things on your bucket list?
    1. Pet an elephant.
    2. Dine at one of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants. 
    3. Photograph pink sands beach.

    I was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at 3 months of age.

    What is the name of your business/organization?
    Katelyn Faulkner – Real Estate & Property Management.

    Why did you get into/start this business?
    I enjoy helping people, and real estate offered me the flexibility I needed in a career. From there I found another passion for real estate photography.

    What is the goal of your business?
    Whether I am helping you find a house, sell a house, or photographing a house, my goal is always to offer professional service that you would want to recommend to everyone around you.

    What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?

    My biggest struggle has always been with having CF and keeping my lungs as healthy as can be.

    What do you always find yourself saying?
    "Perfect!"

    Tell us your best piece of life advice.
    You have been assigned this mountain to show others it can be moved.

    If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
    My daughter, Audrey. Time is fleeting, and it's never enough.

    Why do you think it is important to shop locally?

    So we can support the people who make up this community and keep it thriving.

    What has been your proudest accomplishment?
    Becoming a mother – also it's probably pretty evident of that on my Instagram feed, lol.
