For the first time, cannabis edibles, extracts and topicals can be purchased online in BC.

On Thursday, multiple new categories were added to the BC Cannabis Stores website including inhalable extracts, ingestible extracts and edibles. 

All edible products are produced by Aurora and come in two flavours of chocolate squares, a soft-baked chocolate cookie and a spearmint mint. 

The chocolate squares and mints contain between 1.7 and 2 milligrams of THC and up to 0.5 mg of CBD per piece, while the cookie has up to 5 mg of THC. 

Aurora also produces the only disposable vape pen available for purchase, which features a 150 mg cartridge of sativa-dominant oil as the only flavour. 

While the edible and vape options are notably limited, there's a vast variety of ingestible oil-based products, ranging from drops and gel capsules to oral sprays.

"Availability of products is dependent upon a number of factors, including the ability of manufacturers to meet demand from other markets across Canada," said the BCLDB in a statement. 

According to the BCLDB, the initial line of products is not expected to hit store shelves in provincial cannabis retailers until early next year.
