The low gas prices in Kelowna won’t last too long.

Dan McTeague, senior petroleum analyst with GasBuddy.com, said prices in Kelowna will likely rise from 86.9 to 89 or 91 cents a Litre within the next several days.

Wholesale prices for gasoline in the U.S. shot up a few days ago and prices will go up as soon as gas stations have to refill at higher prices.

“There doesn’t seem to be any end in sight,” said McTeague.

McTeague said he can’t really predict where numbers will be in the next few weeks, although people are already speculating that they’ll keep increasing.

In Kamloops, some stations are still as low as 76 cents per Litre, but customers can expect to see an increase of about ten cents.

Gas Stations in Kelowna tend to be higher because they have a 12 cent per Litre margin, he said.

“Their retailers do a lot better than they do in Kamloops where there’s a lot of competition,” McTeague explained.
