The Annual Fat Cat Children's Festival is taking over Waterfront Park for the 28th year in a row.

Yesterday and today, local families and schools will have the opportunity to explore the 'World of Wonder' created by the 2018 event.

After a successful first day seeing 1,300 students from various community school districts, day two of Fat Cat was ready to welcome the rest of the community with open arms.

Kicking off the event with the usual parade, the 28th year shook things up a bit, creating a more interactive environment for attendees as the parade worked its way through the festival.

From educational booths where children can explore Kelowna's history and heritage, creativity stations for pottery, painting and drumming to good ol' bouncy houses. The festival not only provides the little ones of Kelowna a place to play, but learn.

In addition to the various activities, attendees can look forward to demonstrations from local clubs and live music, including a performance from Kelowna's own The Oot n' Oots.

Even after all this time, the Fat Cat Festival is still an event looked forward to by families around the central Okanagan as it has rooted itself as a tradition across generations.

The festivities carry on until 4 p.m. this afternoon, so it is not too late to soak it all in at your own leisurely pace!
