  • Drugs alert issued for Penticton after surge in overdoses

    A drugs alert has been issued for Penticton. 

    Interior Health said the checking and overdose alert was prompted by the discovery of fentanyl in two samples of crystal meth. 

    It added: “In addition there are increased reports of overdoses in the community and emergency department over the last three days.”

    A mobile drugs testing machine will be at Burdock House on Feb. 6 between 5–7 pm. 

    Interior Health recommends that drug users:

    • Check their drugs

    • Avoid using different drugs at the same time

    • Leave their door unlocked

    • Ask that someone checks on them

    • Start by using a small amount

    • Carry a Naloxone kit
