  • Camosun Chargers gear up for second annual alumni golf tournament

The date is officially set for Camosun College's second annual alumni golf tournament which will take place on Friday, September 22 from 4 – 9pm.

Registration for the tournament is now officially open so make sure to act fast as spots are sure to fill up quickly.

The tournament is the primary fundraiser for the athletics program, which consists of men’s and women’s teams in basketball and volleyball that compete in the Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST).

100% of net proceeds will directly support the athletes on and off the court. These will help navigate costs associated with travel, scholarships and overall athlete experience.

Manager, Athletics & Student Life, Scot Cuachon says last years tournament was a great opportunity for the Camosun community to come together.

"Last year this event brought people together from far and wide, both local and out of province alike. The festivity and laughter in the air was infectious as Chargers supporters, Camosun staff, alumni, and community members came together for a fun filled event at beautiful Highland Pacific Golf Course to support Chargers Athletics."

The cost to play in the tournament is $150 which includes a nine-hole green fee, shared power cart, bucket of range balls, catered dinner, games, contests and prizes.

There will also be plenty of local items up for grabs in a silent auction during the event.

"Funds raised from this event are a crucial component to ensuring that Chargers athletes have the resources they need in order to represent Camosun and our community; And represent they did last year as it was the Chargers most successful season to date with all programs earning medals at the provincial level, highlighted by Women’s Volleyball earning a Silver Medal and Men’s Volleyball earning their second straight Gold Medal at the National Championships," claimed Cuachon. "Equally as important, this event serves to bring our community together. Our experience going through COVID highlighted the importance of connection, celebration, and community, and opportunities to experience this are the very heart of this event. We are looking forward to another fantastic day on September 22nd!"
