Bylands Nurseries has once again addressed the recent outbreak of COVID-19 cases at its West Kelowna location.

On Tuesday, it was made public that 14 foreign workers at the nursery had tested positive for the virus, with five additional cases being announced on Wednesday.

The company has now provided an update on the outbreak via a Facebook post that confirms all 19 affected workers are in self-isolation and both businesses on the property have closed. 

"Our guest workers continue to be in contact with family and friends in their home countries. We continue to work closely with Interior Health to support these individuals and to and ensure all of our sanitation processes, operational practices, and employee housing situations meet or exceed their recommendations," states the Facebook post.

"We are also working with Interior Health and the Consulate to ensure our guest workers can return to work at an appropriate time."

According to Interior Health, it's believed that the initial exposure to the virus may have occurred when the new workers arrived in Kelowna from outside the country on March 12.

None of the company's 12 local employees have tested positive for the virus.

"Some have continued to work with us since 2004 and, over the last 15 years, have become part of the family at Bylands," added the post. 

"We have been recognized as one of the best employers of temporary foreign workers in BC for our accommodations and internal processes."
