BC Egg has promised to donate 25,000 eggs to food banks in British Columbia every week.
The organization, which represents registered egg farmers in the province, hopes the offering will help during the COVID-19 crisis.
Food banks have said that more people are using their services while fewer are able to donate due to the pandemic.
"As we started to see the huge number of job losses caused by COVID-19, we knew the food banks would be seeing more clients as people looked for assistance feeding their families," said Gunta Vitins, BC Egg’s board chair.

"We're farmers – we produce nutritious food every day. We couldn't let people go hungry when we have the ability to help."
Food banks pick up their weekly egg donation from one of five hubs across the province.
Laura Lansink, executive director of Food Banks BC, praised the farmers’ “generosity.”
She added: "Our food bank network is thrilled with this gift of eggs! Protein is always one of the most sought after items by food banks and their clients."
