There are plenty of choices for registered voters to make when it comes to choosing six councillors on Penticton Council heading into Saturday’s municipal election.
NowMedia reached out to all 24 candidates running to claim one of the six spots on Penticton Council. Many of the candidates did not respond, but the majority did.
We asked all candidates the same questions.
We’ve decided to post their answers in alphabetical order.

What do you feel is the most pressing issue facing the City of Penticton should you be elected to Council after the Oct. 20 general election?
"I think homelessness is the major concern facing us as it is a very complex issue that will require a multi- pronged approach to solve and will require great effort by the City. It impacts are readily apparent throughout the City. Related issues that need to be addressed include mental health, addiction and crime. This is a serious situation. A reduction or resolution of this problem will greatly impact in a positive way the quality of life for the homeless and the citizens of Penticton."
What do you feel are your greatest assets as someone running for elected office?
"I am a team builder. I will always work together with Council, city staff and the community to ensure sound policy decisions. I am a team player. I advocate my position while listening to others to working towards a common goal. I have the emotional maturity to make the best decisions in the community interests and to withstand any criticism and remain engaged. I am very approachable and a careful listener and committed to clear and constant communication. I am a critical thinker and always prepare fully to make decisions. I have the financial acumen to understand budgets."
Can you please list some of the priorities you believe the new Council should make a priority in the first six months following the election?
"The priorities of the first six months should include a budget review to ensure the City is on track to meet its targets for 2018. I would also like to establish safe shelters for the homeless this winter a parks review to enhance them in all aspects for next year. A new Council means new ideas and I would lead a review of emerging needs within the City, including a detailed look at infrastructure, adoption of the final draft of the Official Community Plan and moving forward with the goals set for the parks and recreation master plan."

What is, in your opinion, the best thing about calling Penticton home?
"This is a wonderful community made up of some pretty amazing people and I enjoy that immensely. There is a small town ambience and that is very comforting. The parks and beaches are my favourite places to go in season and are great to share with everyone. This is the best place, I feel, to live in our beautiful province."
What are some of the reasons Penticton will be a better place to live in over the next four years?
"The City is growing and flourishing. There will be so much opportunity for everyone. Everything people love about Penticton will still be here and improved with open engagement from the citizens and implementation of positive changes."
