This is some breaking news!

  • A guide to when Kelowna’s breweries will be reopening their tasting rooms

(UPDATE: May 20 @ 1 pm) – We're reposting this story 24 hours after it was originally written because we forgot to include Kelowna's newest brewery!

No, it's not Jackknife Brewing, because another brand new brewery is opening its doors for the first time this week and it slipped our radar.

This morning, Shore Line Brewing Company said it would be ready to welcome the public into it's new space as early as Thursday.

However, after a minor setback, that opening date has been pushed back until Sunday or Monday and you can check out the brewery's social media pages for the latest news.

The new building, across the street from Gyro Beach, as plenty of room inside and a beautiful patio along Lakeshore Drive where you can enjoy a pint in the sun.

We hope to have a full video feature on the city's newest brewery for you tomorrow and we can't wait to get down there and try out their beers for ourselves!

(Original story: May 19 @ 1:15 pm) – While you’ve been able to support your favourite local breweries by buying their beer, it hasn’t quite been the same over the last two months.

Craft beer lovers in Kelowna have been itching to get back into their favourite breweries and enjoy a pint of a freshly poured lager, IPA or sour.

As phase two of British Columbia’s restart plan begins today, that’s finally a reality, as breweries all over town are either opening up or starting to roll out their plans for doing so.

While we’re still waiting to hear back from a few spots, here’s what we know so far:

    • Barn Owl Brewing: Now open 7 days a week for taproom service with seating available on the patio and in the loft.
    • Kelowna Brewing Company: Now open with their old regular hours, but a temporary limited menu.
    • Copper Brewing: Reopening on May 20 with a reduced capacity in the tasting room and on the patio.
    • BNA Brewing: Reopening the tasting room and BoxcAr Kitchen on May 20 and will be open Wednesdays-Sundays starting at 11 am.
    • Red Bird Brewing: Reopening on May 20 with limited seating and limited hours and will be “playing each week by ear and figuring this out as we go.” Open Wednesdays-Sundays.
    • Shore Line Brewing: Kelowna's newest brewery will open its doors for the first time on May 21!
    • Tree Brewing Beer Institute: Reopening on May 21 from 3-10 pm and then regular summer hours starting on May 22.
    • Kettle River Brewing: Reopening May 22 at noon. Will be open Wednesdays-Sundays from noon-8 pm.
    • Jackknife Brewing: The newest member of Kelowna's north end brewery district will welcome the public into its tasting room to in-house service for the first time on May 22!
    • Vice & Virtue Brewing: Will carry on with front door takeaways the next two weekends (Fridays/Saturdays from 2-6 pm) and plan to reopen the tasting room on June 4.
    • Rustic Reel Brewing: Said on Instagram today that the brewery will announce its reopening date soon.
    • Wild Ambition Brewing: No plans to reopen the tasting room at this point, but the brewery is still doing online purchases with free local pickup and BC-wide delivery for a $10 fee.
    • Freddy's Brewpub: Kelowna's first micro-brewery has no plans to open the tasting room at this moment because a big announcement is coming down the pipe soon. For now, they're open Wednesdays-Saturdays for takeout between 4-8 pm.

All breweries have said that the appropriate measures will be in place to ensure the health and safety of guests and staff.

You can find specific information on these breweries' hours and what each one is doing in terms of social distancing and limited capacities by visiting their websites and social media pages.
