At 2001 hours on February 2, 2024, Saanich Police patrol and traffic safety officers responded to a serious collision in the 5100 block of the Patricia Bay Highway.
Police, paramedics and the Saanich Fire Department all attended and determined that a pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck in the northbound lanes. The event did not take place in or near a crosswalk.
Tragically, the pedestrian, a 29-year-old woman from Greater Victoria, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle involved remained on scene and has been cooperative.
“Saanich Police Collision Analysts continue to investigate; however, impairment or speed of the driver do not appear to be factors,” stated Inspector Damian Kowalewich. “Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the woman”.
