On this week's episode of Cseking In we sat down with the president and CEO of Ecora Engineering & Resource Group, Kelly Sherman, to hear about the journey that lead to him creating the company.
Kelly explains that he was tired of seeing people not being treated properly by the company he was working for, from employees to clients, and that’s what pushed him to take a new direction.
“The lease in our Kelowna office came to an end, and I saw it was going nowhere and this company was not going to survive the way they were. I didn’t have the power to recover it, so I offered to buy the Kelowna branch,” says Sherman.
“That was not accepted and they wanted us to resign… we (four founding partners) ended up starting Ecora.”.
Kelly explains how he and his partners scouted talent from Timberline after they went bankrupt to build Ecora from the ground up into what it is today.
“We did that by borrowing money, not paying ourselves, but we knew there was an exceptional group of talent, we knew who they were, we knew who we wanted. So that was the kind of opportunity we could not pass up.”
