A woman was hit by a semi-truck while cycling in Vernon on Wednesday.

It happened at about 1:40 am on 27th Street, Mounties explained, with the 38-year-old cyclist sent to hospital with minor injuries.

The truck did not stop, the woman told police, but may have failed to notice the collision.

The woman was wearing dark, non-reflective clothing at the time and was also riding a dark bike.

She was riding on the road.

“Police conducted patrols for the semi-truck and alerted police officers in the areas north of Vernon,” said Cpl Tania Finn.

“Unfortunately, the vehicle was not located.”
