Breaking News:

This is some breaking news!

  • These will be some of the biggest travel trends of 2020

Travel, spending time with family, or venturing outdoors has been shown to bring far greater levels of fulfillment and satisfaction which directly impacts our mental health. It should come as no surprise then, that many companies have monetized these experiences.

Air BnB, Trip Advisor and Artery have all developed platforms to offer experiences, connecting travellers to hosts who offer activities like walking tours, wine tastings or even pet therapy.

As the popularity of experiences grows, other industries have begun to jump on the bandwagon.

Hotel chains like the Pan Pacific have just introduced a program for their members to redeem points through an experience platform – showcasing local hosts and connecting tourists – activities or places they wouldn't have otherwise come across.

Artery connects hosts and performers, wanting to offer intimate showcases to eager experience goers.

Hosts open up their homes, where artists perform for intimate groups in the comfort of a living room – anything from spoken word poetry to live violin.

It's an especially attractive option for individuals who don't love crowds but still want to experience the magic of live arts.

Artery offers experiences for groups as small as 6 people which gives hosts living in a small spaces an opportunity to offer creative showcases.

Air BnB and Trip Advisor offer experiences to curious travelers through their booking apps.

Typically, they'll be connected to a savvy local who might take them on a food tour, or pour them a flight of local wines.

While new drinks may be imbibed or regional food might be shared, the focus is on connection – hosts are strongly encouraged to build relationships with their guests as the main goal.

Experience platforms have given many individuals the opportunity to pursue a side hustle, or even as a full time venture.
