To make everyone a little bit less judgemental.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
I feel like Kelowna has grown up with me. It's been so refreshing to see it grow into the big city it has while at the same time keeping its local and community-oriented roots. There's a niche for everybody in Kelowna!
What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. Visit Japan
2. Adopt my own French Bulldog.
3. Get my law degree!
Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I worked in fashion for a big chunk of my life! Modelling in many different cities around the world! Also, I am obsessed with ramen and French Bulldogs.
How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
Instagram: @shopmogano
What is the name of your business/organization?
MOGANO
Why did you get into this business?
I worked in fashion for a long time and I've always wanted my own boutique store. My boyfriend and I started MOGANO when we met since he had the tech skills and I had the fashion sense to make the perfect working combo!
What is the goal of your business?
Our goal is provide trendy, quality and affordable jewelry and accessories to women who want to have beautiful jewels without breaking the bank.
What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
My biggest struggle with our business has been juggling school work alongside my job and working on the store. We started serious web design and product shoots when both my boyfriend and I were in the middle of our midterm exams. We made it work but it has been nice to have a break from school so we can focus on the store!
If you could start all over again, would you do things the same or would things be different?
The only thing I wish we did differently would be the timing of our store launch. I wish we launched before the Christmas season, however it was very difficult because of other commitments to school, work and life in general! Other than that, I would do everything else the same.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
I've worked for many locally owned businesses and I have seen the direct impact of the owner's life as a result of local people supporting their business. That's why it's so important to shop local. You're supporting a person or family who is able to live their dream by providing you a personal service. You don't see this kind of direct and personal impact when buying from large corporations.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Launching our online store. It's been so much work, but I am so proud of what we have done with the resources and skills that we have. We took an idea that we had been dwelling on for months and finally took the leap to make it reality. It's so satisfying to have it be a reality now.
Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
Carleigh at Frakas for being so supportive and nominating me to do this!
My choice for the KelownaNow In Focus spotlight is:
