Kamloops will be home to another new festival in 2018. Chimera Theatre is producing the inaugural Hydra Festival for the performing arts, set to run May 10th to May 19th at the Actors Workshop Theatre at Thompson Rivers University.

Chimera is accepting applications to participate in the festival until October 21st.

Hydra will feature new and innovative local works, with the goal of incorporating a diverse set of artist and reaching a broader audience. Acts will include everything from theatre and dance to circus arts, multimedia, puppetry, clown, improv, standup and spoken word.

The goal of the festival is to get as many different performing artists and companies in Kamloops together under one roof. We encourage artists of diverse backgrounds and artistic practices, especially artists who consider themselves a minority or underrepresented in the performing arts community, to apply.

Applications are also open to local performing arts companies. Guidelines for applicants and details on how to apply are on Chimera’s website.  

Chimera is a small non-profit theatre company based in Kamloops and founded by Andrew Cooper.
