  • Young moose rescued after becoming trapped in Okanagan bridge

Conservation officers and a friendly landscaper rescued a young cow moose after it got stuck in a bridge on Monday.

The handsome creature was left looking rather foolish after its hind legs slid through the rungs of a small bridge near Peachland.

It was left hopelessly poking the top half of its body above ground.

But a worker from Sunnyslope Landscape, a firm based in West Kelowna, spotted the moose and called the Conservation Officer Service.

The cow was tranquilized and, with the help of Sunnyslope, helped out of the rungs with a Bobcat loader and slings.

“It was successfully released back into the wild,” the COS said.

The Sunnyslope worker, meanwhile, donated a large chunk of the day to the heroic rescue, explaining: “Didn’t get too much else done today.”

But he added: “Make up for it tomorrow.”
