It surely wasn’t the party he imagined, but Kade Foster’s 11th birthday turned out to be incredibly memorable.

After none of the friends he invited to his birthday party showed up, Kade’s father took to Twitter to try and turn things around.

He shared a photo of Kade with his cake, explained how no one showed up to the Saturday night party and asked for people on Twitter to take a minute to send his son a birthday wish.

In the post, Jason tagged Toronto Maple Leafs starts Mitch Marner and John Tavares, hoping that the message might make it to Kade’s heroes who were on the birthday cake in the photo.

The post didn’t just make it to Tavares and Marner, it’s made its way around the world.

In just over 24 hours, the post has around 39,000 replies, 18,000 retweets and nearly 128,000 likes.

Tavares responded wishing Kade a happy birthday and saying all of the boy’s friends on the Maple Leafs had a surprise for him and “look forward to celebrating with you.”

Marner gave a similar response, wishing “his friend” Kade a happy birthday and referencing the surprise that was coming from the hockey club.

Other Leafs players like Auston Matthews and Morgan Rielly chimed in with well-wishes as well, among others, but it wasn’t just the hockey world sending Kade birthday messages.

The tweet ended up getting responses from big names like Justin Trudeau, Mark Hamill, Ben Stiller, Will Arnett, Zach Braff and Dog the Bounty Hunter, just to name a few.

Even team, league and business accounts like the Leafs, Carolina Hurricanes, Arizona Cardinals, the NWHL and Upper Deck Hockey took the time to reply.

The Internet may not always be the kindest place, but the response to Jason’s post about Kade showcased a truly wonderful side of the world wide web.

After a rough start, Kade’s 11th birthday was surely one for the books and it looks like he’ll be enjoying it with gifts and tickets to various sporting events for quite some time.
