Last weekend, athletes representing Lake Country Gymnastics traveled to Nelson, B.C. to compete at the Kootenay Zone Championships.

This competition was the first time LCG had athletes represent in both the Junior Olympic (JO) and Interclub categories. 

The athletes enjoyed the competition where they were provided with a positive environment to show off their hard work.

In the JO 3 2006-2008 age category, Peyton Manziuk earned first place on floor and third place All Around.

Jakaya Rohatensky earned third place on the vault and fifth place All Around.

McKenzie Schmidt’s best finish was on the floor placing fifth place, All Around she earned seventh place.

In the JO 3 2009 age category, Elena Eikenaar finished in first place on the vault, third place on the balance beam and fourth place All Around.

Alexis Baruta won the silver medal on vault behind Eikenaar, fourth on the balance beam and eighth All Around. 

Charlotte Lamb competed in the JO 3 2010-2011 age category with her best finish a second place on the vault.

She earned third place on the uneven bars, balance beam, floor and All Around.

In the Performance Plus category, Paige Melnick, Katie Murphy, Sienna Silzer and Raphaelle Roy-Bois showed solid performances.

All LCG athletes earned Silver All Around. Paige Melnick earned a special award for her routine on the uneven bars.
