  • Young Entrepreneur Series: One team, one bike pushing it to the limit

SPINCO co-owner Jessica Turanec is surprisingly chill, even if her place of work is not.

With 32 riders all pushing themselves to the pumping beat of the music, it’s a high energy workout for everyone and a life-changing experience for many.

"I was one of SPINCO’s first instructors and I knew I wanted to be a bigger part of something that brings our community together. It was in no time that I decided to buy into the business with friend and founder, Michelle August and we’ve become great business partners," said Jessica.

“The environment at SPINCO is inspiring and I identified with building a business on creating a lifestyle that helps everyone who walks through the door.”

Jessica's passion for helping people through fitness began nine years ago when her twin sister was diagnosed with cancer. This inspired Jessica to participate in the Ride to Conquer Cancer.

“Doing the Ride to Conquer Cancer for my sister really inspired me to take my life in this direction and I’m very grateful to her for that,” explained Jessica.

“Tragically, my sister passed three days after I first participated in the event, however this fall will be my tenth year participating and we have a SPINCO team now which means everything to me.”

The same passion and commitment that goes into 10 years of riding with The Ride to Conquer Cancer has driven SPINCO’s co-owners to grow the business from its beginnings in Kelowna to having nine locations across Canada.

“The studio is different than your typical gym or workout," explained Jessica. “All our instructors across Canada are trained in SPINCO's unique program where a big part of the focus is to inspire all riders to better themselves inside and outside the studio.”

Attending you first SPINCO class may seem slightly intimidating, but just like starting a business, taking the leap and sticking with it can be the reward of a lifetime.
