Wildfire smoke is drifting into the BC interior, resulting in somewhat hazy Okanagan skies. 

“There is a bit of smoke coming into the BC Southern Interior, but as you can see the air quality here is relatively better than other areas,” says NowMedia meteorologist Wesla English. 

“However with our current stable weather pattern, some air particles are getting trapped.”

According to the air quality health index, the Central Okanagan is at a four this afternoon, which is a moderate risk.

Satellite image from NASA and Firesmoke Canada show the smoke drifting into other provinces from Alberta. 

As for how long the haze is expected to stick around for, English says that there is a chance of showers on Thursday.  

"Although my current confidence is low about the chance of showers, if any showers do pop up, it will help with clearing the haze," she says. 

The Chuckegg Creek wildfire near High Level, Alta. is more than 100,000 hectares today. Around 5,000 High Level residents are still under evacuation order.
