(UPDATE: Sept. 21 @ 12:25 pm) – The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen has rescinded the evacuation alert for properties in the Osprey Lake, Link Lake and Bankier areas along the Princeton-Summerland Road.
(UPDATE: Sept. 21 @ 8:15 am) – The Osprey Lake wildfire is being held, according to the BC Wildfire Service’s (BCWS) latest update.
“Due to the hard work of the crews and aviation resources, this fire is now being held,” reads the BCWS update.
While the fire is being held at two hectares in size, the evacuation alert for the area remains in place.
An update on the status of the evacuation alert is expected at some point this morning, according to the Lower Similkameen Indian Band.
(UPDATE: Sept. 20 @ 1:35 pm) – The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen has issued an evacuation alert for properties near the Osprey Lake wildfire west of Peachland.
The alert includes properties in the Osprey Lake, Link Lake and Bankier areas along the Princeton-Summerland Road.

“The fire is currently estimated at three hectares with some expected growth today, due to forecasted winds,” stated the Lower Similkameen Indian Band (LSIB).
“In an abundance of caution, BCWS has also tasked three helicopters to currently work on the blaze and is expecting a fourth helicopter resource to be responding shortly, along with an airtanker group.”
The LSIB added that the Erris Volunteer Fire Department and the Hayes Creek Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the fire on Friday when it was first discovered.
(Original story: Sept. 20 @ 9:35 am) –The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) and Osprey Lake Volunteer Fire Department are battling a wildfire west of Peachland.

According to the BCWS, the fire was spotted on Friday and is estimated to be 2.5 hectares in size.
The blaze is out of control and two initial attack crews are fighting the fire with support from a pair of helicopters.
The fire is suspected to have been started by human activity and is near Lee Creek north of Osprey Lake.
