Planning on taking advantage of some sick deals on Black Friday in Canada?
Turns out, you’re not even remotely alone. A trend report shows that the shopping event that originated in the U.S. is gaining major traction in Canada, even growing in favour over Boxing Day.
Black Friday has a bad reputation for turning good people into complete animals over once-a-year deals, so here's hoping Canadian politeness triumphs and we don't see another Sears Canada liquidation sale repeat.
The report showed that 79% Canadians intend to shop on Black Friday this year, which is a 22% increase from last year.
We may be planning on dropping some serious cash on this American holiday, but many Canadians are still planning on supporting local despite thinking the best deals are found in the U.S.
The report, released by RedFlagDeals, found that while 88% of Canadians think the Black Friday deals are better in the States, but 55% still intend to shop at home regardless of this.

The reason? The reports points to the current political climate in the U.S. as most shoppers reasoning for shopping Canadian deals, however, to report also showed most Canadians prefer to shop locally anyway.
About 45% of Canadian shoppers prefer to buy products from a Canadian brand, rather than an American brand.
So even though we are growing in favour of this American holiday, Canadians are still looking to support the brand.
