When it comes to timely air travel in Canada, WestJet is the best in the business according to digital travel data provider OAG.
To determine the results, OAG only considered flights that arrive or depart within 15 minutes of their scheduled arrival/departure times.
The annual report ranks the Calgary-based airline as the sixth in on-time performance among low-cost carriers in North America during 2019.
On a global scale, WestJet ranks 15th among low-cost carriers with a 78.9% on-time performance rating while Skymark Airlines in Japan took the top spot with a 90.1% rating.
Considered as a "mega airline" on the global scale, Air Canada finished last among ranked airlines with a 20th place ranking behind the big four U.S. carriers as well as British Airways, Lufthansa, and Air China.
The report says the Toronto-based airline's on-time performance was 66%.
Calgary and Edmonton were the only Canadian airports to reach the top 20 for on-time performance, placing 17th and 20th in the large and medium categories, respectively.
