  • Wentworth Music to celebrate 10 years of youth music in Kelowna

For the past 10 years, Wentworth Music has helped change the lives of youth in the community and will celebrate the achievement with an anniversary performance.

A total of 20 concerts, hundreds of hours of preparation, organization and music has taken place over the past decade at the Kelowna Community Theatre. For Noel Wentworth, he calls all the work a “piece of cake”, but in reality, the concerts are one of the largest of their kind in Canada.

On June 25, Interior Savings will team up with Wentworth Music and K96.3 FM to present “20 songs from 20 shows.” The night of local entertainment will feature students rocking out to support children struggling with mental health issues.

The concert will feature songs from the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, Prism and songs from the 90’s. Tunes that have been played over the 10 years.

“There are just so many great tracks that we’ve done. The set list is amazing! I think our audience will be rocking out and singing along in their seats!” explained Wentworth.

The concert will be put on by teachers and students from Wentworth Music and collect funds for sick children at Kelowna General and Vernon Jubilee Hospital.

“It is inspiring to see the personal contribution of Wentworth’s students using their talent and the power of music to heal,” said Interior Savings’ CEO, Kathy Conway. “I encourage the community to join us for a special night of music in support of an important cause.”

Over the years, these concerts have helped raise more than $146,000 to help sick children in the community, while teaching a valuable life lesson to the youth involved.

“By doing something that you are passionate about, you have the power to impact your community and beyond,” Wentworth explained. “What are you passionate about? How can you do that and help others at the same time?”

The concert will once again take place at the Kelowna Community Theatre and tickets are available for $16 plus GST on eventbrite.ca. If tickets sell out, people are encouraged to contact the Wentworth Music office at 250-860-2251 to be put on a waiting list.
