The West Kelowna Warriors have been busy on the trade front in the last week and it continued on Sunday.

The team announced the acquisition of Kelowna native Colby Elmer from the Trail Smoke Eaters as part of a three-way trade.

As part of the deal, defenseman Declan Douthart has been traded from West Kelowna to the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the AJHL.

Elmer, 18, has played 23 games with Trail this season, tallying three goals and six assists along the way.

Prior to that, he scored 53 points in 39 games playing for the Okanagan Rockets of the BC Hockey Major Midget League.

“We look forward to adding Colby to our lineup,” said Brandon West, Warriors GM. 

“Colby is a forward that can create offense for our group and he is excited to get started here in West Kelowna”

Douthart had posted 10 assists in 27 games for the Warriors so far this season.

The Winnipeg native is leaving the Okanagan after five years, dating back to his day with the Pursuit of Excellence Program.
