Hockey Canada's decision to toss out the nicknames that have been used for decades to describe the different minor hockey age groups is getting some reaction. We took the question to the streets of Kelowna. 

"The word midget is offensive?" asked one man. "I had kids in hockey, it doesn't bother me," said another. Others expressed an attachment to the age-group names they've become used to. "It's sentimental", said one of the people who offered-up a comment. But most seem to agree that the time has come for the change. 

The Hockey Canada decision was ratified at this past weekend's Winter Congress in Montreal. Gone are the terms 'Peewee', 'Bantam' and yes, 'Midget'. Instead, each age group will be given a numerical name as you see in other sports such as U-9 (under nine), U-11 (under 11) and U-13 (under 13). Hockey Canada Board of Directors Chair, Michael Brind'Amour called it an effort to "…make hockey more inclusive."

The new designations will be in place for the 2020/2021 season.
