Rich in history and upgrades, the newly renovated Old Cannery Block Building has transformed into a modern building while retaining the undeniable character stemming from its original form.
Whitworth Holdings wanted to update the 100-year-old building for merchants, customers and the community to enjoy while staying true to its vibrant history of an industrial canning factory for fruits and vegetables.
The building we know now is home to a handful of local boutique shops, restaurants and other merchants, located right in the downtown core of Kelowna on Ellis Street.
Whitworth Holdings worked hard to improve the lighting, signage and access of the building.
One of the most notable upgrades is the unique, bright yellow seating area beside the spectacular “Cannery” structure, welded out of metal that doubles as a bike lock-up and neat photo-op.
Certainly, the functionality and aesthetics have drastically changed for the better, but most importantly, it feels like a part of the iconic Cannery Lane buildings and era.
