UPDATE: Hwy 5 open to single lane after vehicle fire near Blue River

(UPDATE: 9:35 am) – BC Hwy 5 is no open to single lane alternating traffic after an earlier vehicle fire near Blue River.

Expect delays and drive with caution.

(Original Story: 8:30 am) – Residents travelling using BC Hwy 5 should be aware of a closure near Blue River.

According to Drive BC, a vehicle fire has the road closed in both directions between the Messiter Summit Rest Area and Messiter Southbound chain up.

The road has been closed since about 4 am and is expected to be open around 9 am.

At this point, there are no detours available.
