(UPDATE: May 19 @ 7 a.m.) – Hwy 1 has been reopened following a vehicle incident east of Hwy 5 in Kamloops last night.

(UPDATE: 9:55 p.m.) – Drive BC has confirmed that Hwy 1 is closed eastbound due to a vehicle incident. 

Drivers are being asked to use an alternate route around the incident, which was reported by eyewitnesses as a collision between a truck and a motorcycle.

Crews are on scene attending to the cause of the road closure.

Crews are on site at a vehicle collision on Hwy 1 that reportedly took place between a motorcyclist and a pickup truck. 

Drive BC reported that an incident occurred on Hwy 1, just east of Hwy 5. 

The status of the roadway has not been released by Drive BC yet, but they say crews are en route and an assessment is in progress. 

Witnesses on scene note that a pickup truck and a motorcycle appear to have been involved in the collision.
