Venessa Thorsen and Tyler Woloshyn are recent graduates of the University of British Columbia Okanagan. They started up a community organization called Students for Heart Health last year.
In their latest fundraising endeavor, the 22-year-olds have raised $10,600 for the cardiac ward at the Kelowna General Hospital.

The cardiac ward is relatively new to the hospital, and is typically underrepresented in fundraising.
Thorsen and Woloshyn seeked out assistance from the KGH foundation and stated that all the proceeds will "directly support life saving efforts for those suffering from heart ailments in our community and to purchase and maintain current cardiac equipment throughout the hospital."
Students for Heart Health has already joined forces with numerous organizations across the country, since their inception in May of 2021.
They have raised several hundred dollars in support of cardiac research at the University of Ottawa and have facilitated close to 30 blood/plasma/stem cell donations in the Kelowna area.
