TRU proved that wolves are no strangers to the water this weekend at the Canada West Swim Championships.

Competing in Lethbridge, the Pack set multiple team records on their way to an eighth-place finish at the event. TRU notched over 100 team points for the first time in their history, finishing with 119.  

On Sunday, team leader Ryley McRae finished third in the 200-metre butterfly consolation final. He was also seventh in the 400-metre freestyle consolation final. 

Emily Dagasso, the only female member of the swim team, was eighth overall after finishing the event with 19 points. Matt Gauthier also added a seventh in the 200-metre individual medley for additional points. 

For the first time in their history, the WolfPack had a men’s relay team. The squad consisted of rookies Ben Nichols, Oliver Castle, Gauthier and McRae. They finished eighth overall. 

“This was an outstanding performance by the team,” said head coach Brad Dalke.  “Many, many second swims this weekend for all the athletes.”
