  • Tough driving conditions, multiple accidents on BC Interior highways

The challenge of winter driving on B.C. highways is usually wrapped up by April, but there are exceptions.

It appears as though today is one of those exceptions, as a couple of B.C. Interior highways are proving to be a tough drive today.

DriveBC webcams show plenty of fog on the Okanagan Connector (Hwy 97C), while there’s wet snow falling on the Coquihalla Highway (Hwy 5).

An accident has brought Hwy 5 down to single lane alternating traffic just north of Merritt, while one Twitter user claimed to see a number of accidents while driving Hwy 5 this morning.

“Just finished my commute from Merritt to Kamloops,” wrote @JoshTQ. “Five total accidents throughout the drive, including two semis and a roll over.”

When it comes to other routes, Hwy 3 also looks to have wet conditions throughout higher elevations, while the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1) appears to be good in most spots.
