Is Craigslist looking bleak when it comes to job prospects in your town? If so, you may have a better chance in one of Canada's hottest job markets. 

Following Labour Day weekend, Employment Professionals has released its fourth annual Top 50 Hot Job Markets in Canada report.

As per the 2017 rankings, Quebec's job market is smoking hot right now with the first 12 cities on the top 50 list being from the province. 

The report ranks cities based on available jobs per 1,000 population.

Even after dropping seven spots from last years ranking, Victoria is the first B.C. city to make the list followed by North Vancouver, Vancouver, and Kelowna at 24th spot.

It's a positive ranking considering Kelowna was labeled 'Canada's Worst City to Find a Job' in 2016 by Bank of Montreal's labour market report card.

Canada as a whole has seen plenty of job growth in 2017, adding a net 387,000 jobs in 12 months, which pushed the jobless rate down to a nine-year low of 6.3%.

"If there is one concern we would highlight, it's in fact that businesses are having a hard time finding workers," Express CEO Bob Funk said in a statement.

With 2.82 jobs per 1,000 residents, Vancouver is the hottest major job market in Canada, beating out the Montreal suburb of Laval, in second place with 2.71 jobs.

Despite a Statistics Canada provincial unemployment rate of 7.8% in July 2017, Alberta’s job market is making a slow come back with Fort McMurray and Grand Prairie ranking 16th and 17th on the list of hot job markets.
