The 2021 vintage is a milestone season for Road 13 Vineyards given it was their first harvest as a certified organic grower. That’s right—every row they grow is 100% organic. 

"We are already seeing the difference organic farming has made in the vineyards,” Senior Viticulturist, Rob Achurch explains. “This has confirmed my belief that vines should be grown naturally, respecting the land and the variability that each season brings.”  

This certification was a big job but the team believed strongly that hard work and commitment to the process will mean a happier Earth, healthier dirt, and a future of great wine.

According to Winemaker Barclay Robinson a good farmer knows it’s all about the give-and-take. “Cover crops, wildlife conservation, and composting are just a few of the things we do to shepherd these lands. It’s a long road but on our road, there are no shortcuts.” 

With the help of Young Agrarians, Road 13 is also working to support a new generation of farmers and the practice of regenerative agriculture. For the months of April through June, when you buy a bottle of 2020 Seventy-Four K (a delicious, full-bodied red blend) they will donate a dollar to next-gen farmer training that promotes soil health. 

Young Agrarians are new and young ecological farmers who are advocates for regenerating soils and building vibrant food systems to feed our communities. This non-profit works to nurture local, ecologically produced foods through its growing network of farmers.
