Kamloops is known for its rugged outdoor terrain, endless hiking trails and exploring opportunities. With so much to see, it’s sometimes hard to know where to start, so that’s where the Thompson Trail Drifter comes in hand. KamloopsBCNow is introducing a new column that will share fantastic views and adventures throughout Kamloops and surrounding areas.
Mike Hanes is a true product of Kamloops as he was born and raised in our picturesque, semi-arid desert. Active throughout his whole life, Mike did not let two broken heels or a diagnosis of Crohn's and Colitis slow him down. As a matter of fact, that’s when he started escaping to the mountains and hiking took the place of running.

With his own personal drive and adventurous spirit, exploring our beautiful backyard has become second nature to Mike and his companion, Scarlett — the Siberian Husky.
